Very good. All summers, regardless of 10C highs or 40C highs should be too cool or hot for sleeveless shirts. What next? Fannypacks, white sports socks with sandals, moonshine, inbreeding and missing a few teeth and fingers?
Lille has almost identical summers to SE England, and outdoor garden parties/bbqs/picnics are pretty much a summer tradition here, so I'm sure there would be no problems doing the same in Lille.
Philadelphia for me, because it's sunnier and the difference in winter isn't that much Lille can't still get some serious cold.
Lille has warmer summers than my climate, but I wouldn't choose a Lille summer. over summer here.
Philadelphia is almost an annual average climate twin for my climate, with rain days and sunshine about the same and temperatures close at 6.8C/18.4C and 8/18.1C. Rainfall is a bit less than here though.
If only we had your winters the palms I could grow would be amazing.
I'll take Philly in a New York minute... Both have weak winters, though Philly can see some decent snow. Philly's summers absolutely destroy Lille. No contest.

I have a feeling they can grow more decent winter evergreen vegetation than here though. Unlike most on here, that matters to me and ties perfectly into climate preferences.

I don't know, Lille is only negligibly milder than Philadelphia in the winter, although I imagine it's less prone to erratic temperature swings. Record lows aren't much different however.

You are kidding right? Despite that record low, they are in zone 9a. They will look far more green in winter, and can grow far more than we can.
