Didn't the blizzard that happened in the late 1800's, 1898 or 1899 set some records?

All those times it rained over 2" & we said "imagine if it was all snow"... well..... here we go.

Latest qpf & snow forecast. Over 2 inches of liquid all snow! Steady snow here and across the area from here on out.

My morning commute was actually worse than the afternoon commute. Interstate 80 wasn't plowed when I left at 6AM. Roads weren't horrible, but not great either riding back home.

Seems like they're having a difficult time forecasting snowfall totals for this storm. NWS is saying 10-18 in for my area. Been snowing since before dawn.

Hmm. Those NOAA estimates seem very liberal. At TWC, they're saying that some models are suggesting that the trajectory of the low will probably be farther east than originally expected. Hence NYC and LI will see less snow than originally forecast. About 12'' for NYC and 18'' for eastern LI according to them.

We're too far west to be affected by this, although southern Ontario are getting a bit of light snow out of it.

Bright sunshine today but quite cold here. I'd say we have about 20-25 cm of snow on the ground. Less than usual. It's been a while since we've had a big dump of snow. But quite cold so not much melting.

Nothing extremely heavy out there. Band over NYC/Long Island just sitting there. Steady as it goes.

Other band over the Atlantic and Nantucket is moderate snows and curling inbound.

New London County CT and Rhode Island should see intensity pick up soon.
