Does France have strict building guidelines and aesthetic requirements? Do they have tough planning agencies you have to get building permits thru?

I find American suburbs, countryside and urban settings more unattractive.

I think here there is an overall mistrust and dislike of any type of govt regulation. Hence developers and builders get whatever they want. American cities are just not as attractive as European cities imo. Not all of Europe, but certain countries like Germany and France. Some of the towns in Germany are stunning as well. I don't think any city in the US comes close to Paris, London, Berlin, Prague, etc.

Apparently, March "went out like a lion" last week. That was the result.
And I just HAD to be a dumb-dumb and gawk at it while it crushed some of my seedlings. Wound up having to replant. Next time, if very severe weather's predicted, I'm either covering them, or if they're in pots they're going to be houseplants for the day.

Lots of things sprouting and blooming. The sprouts that survived the hail are doing well:

Row 1 from left to right:
1. Day lily
2. Hydrangea
3. Tomato
4. Habanero
5. Wild Blackberry (zoomed in)

Row 2 from left to right:
6. Wild Blackberry (zoomed out)
7. Thai hot pepper

Looks a bit bigger than pea size but smaller than dime. That's the biggest I ever saw here. Can you imagine the Golf Ball sizes? Or Baseball?! Yeah, hail is a killer for the plants. Hate it. Grown to Hate Severe weather for few reasons.

These start to accumulate some size:

The €2 coin is 2.6 cm, the matchbox 5.0 cm, can't bother to convert.

These are approaching baseball size, fell the last time in 2010: https://www.taivaanvahti.fi/images/u...24ae8fbe36.jpg
