Once we make it through this super cold we have more snow to look forward to:
From the NWS office in Blacksburg -
Saturday Snow before 2pm, then snow and sleet between 2pm and 4pm, then sleet after 4pm. High near 30. Wind chill values as low as -1. Breezy, with a south wind 14 to 22 mph, with gusts as high as 36 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New snow and sleet accumulation of 4 to 8 inches possible.
We never made it above 23 today. That absolutely destroys our previous daily record low max of 31.
The funny thing is, we were only supposed to hit 18, so this was warmer than expected.
It's currently 15 with a wind chill of 4. Accuweather says we'll get down to -2; I'd be shocked if that happens. That's once every 50 year cold for here.
That's a depressing perspective. I go outside every day to do a little jogging or bike riding, and try to enjoy the cold as much as possible. In fact, if I didn't go outside during winter I'd probably be depressed and lethargic and lazy as hell. -10C isn't even that cold imo - there are far colder places than nyc.
Im not in NYC at the moment, I dorm upstate. You right tho, NYC aint bad at all, now upstate is a different story

We're polar opposites living in the same climate. I'm at my laziest in the winter, because it's so uncomfortable. I hate being trapped indoors, so it is depressing.
Wow. A freeze warning for Collier and even mainland Monroe County. Crops could be in jeopardy depending how long it lasts...
Good point, thought about the crops the other day but slipped my mind today with everything that's going on.
11pm Northeast closeup Temps with IR Satellite using Visible Color Table to show where the clearer skies are. Northern CT has some clouds, southern doesn't including NYC.
25-35 below normal temps region wide. 9 times in the single digits now here. I'm lucky to get 2 a year in January.
