Eastern WA has higher high averages in the summer months than Chicago, so it's not that unusual.

True, but these anomalies that they are seeing are just ridiculous

Record lows for Tallahassee for the summer months (June, July and August) are 46 F, 57 F, and 57 F respectively.

I'm shocked it's been 46 F in June before . I knew that 50s weren't out of the question in early June but 40s? I had no idea.

I agree. It's been really hot, almost unbearable even in the Puget Sound region. On Saturday night, it was 82 degrees in Seattle at midnight

Muggy today, with dews above 20°C most of the day. Nearby Cannes had a 22°C/71°F dp late in the morning. Though with maxes around 26°C, it feels pretty nice.

Great example of why minimums only tell half the story when it comes to nighttime comfort. With those big diurnal ranges, it takes a while for the temp to cool off. Noticed the 77°F mins in interior WA.

Wild Fire Smoke is following the trough/Jet Stream. Might be some great sunsets!

NWS Smoke forecast.. Darker colors will be seen in form of smoke in the air.. lighter colors will be more of a haze which is going all the way from Canada to northern Gulf States.

Air Quality Forecast Guidance for CONUS Area

Reminds me of how Volcanic Ash moves with the winds too. This smoke is moving with the NW flow we have going on into Eastern US then rounding the base and moving NE

Click on +12Hrs with that link then go down to 1Hr Average Vertical Smoke Integration and check out the forecast smoke for upcoming days. Still lingers and gets worse for Mid West

Want comparisons??

Without looking at the dates, you wouldn't be able to tell the right image is todays 500mb Height map. June not January. This is a Winter Pattern without the winter cold.

Im debating whether we should we save this for winter or let it happen now so Summer is tolerable? Note the Polar Vortex East of Hudson bay then and the Vortex in Ontario today.

That day led to big coastal snowstorm... yesterday we had a coastal rain storm. Right side of Jet between the cold trough air and the warm Atlantic.

Same pattern now then we had in the winter. And could continue next 1-2 weeks.

This might be interesting. Turns out it's a frontal boundary.
