Yup, it beat the previous 28.0°C record. Not much of an improvement, but it is still an absolute record. The record warmest low in France was 30.0°C in Menton in august 2003, when Nice recorded a 27.7°C low. I'm curious about Menton's low this time.

Bummer. I'd rather have it stay hot if it means a new record. Btw that's positively freezing for an afternoon temp.

Yep it did actually feel cool, with lower dew points, for a time, but as soon as the sun came out it went up to 33.5C...

Another week down the drain.

AFTER THAT PRECIP THE REST OF THE FORECAST PERIOD LOOKS DRY.
TROUGHING OVER THE NORTHEAST U.S. WILL DEEPEN AS RIDGING BUILDS IN
THE WEST. THIS TROUGHING WILL MAKE OUR MID TO LATE WEEK WEATHER
COOLER THAN NORMAL, WITH HIGHS AROUND 80 AND LOWS POSSIBLY INTO THE
50S.

while much of central europe has been broiling this summer, it's quite the opposite in parts of the scandinavian mountains.

Rekordmycket snö kvar i Klimpfjäll - Nyheter | SVT.se

"Well into August and it is still a record amount of snow left in the mountain area around Klimpfjäll. A very unique situation, says the residents in the area.

The approaching autumn and still do not have the snow melting away on the mountains. Villagers in Klimpfjäll can not remember there ever been so much snow left at this time.

- I've plowed this since the 60s and this much snow has never been there. It should have been gone by now but it's not, says Agne Eliasson in Klimpfjäll.

More snow than adjustable in height
Helicopter pilot Jerry Viklund has flown in Klimpfjäll and Stekenjokk area for over 30 years, and says he never even have seen so much snow at this time.

- Snowdrifts in the low mountain should normally be gone now. If you go to the Norwegian border further west at 1100 meters altitude, then there is more snow than bare ground. Then there's water on the Norwegian side that is still covered with ice, said Jerry Viklund"

Mid month or shortly after we should be getting hot again.

It's pretty interesting to see these Upper Lows barreling across Southern Canada. NWS NY at the end mentions once the Low in Quebec lifts out, heights can begin to rise in Northeast (warmer)

AN AMPLIFIED H5 FLOW IS EXPECTED TO PERSIST ACROSS THE NRN HALF
OF NORTH AMERICA INTO NEXT WEEKEND WITH TROUGHING CONTINUING ACROSS THE EASTERN
US. RIDGING WILL EXTEND FROM BRITISH COLUMBIA THROUGH THE
SOUTHERN PLAINS TO START THE FORECAST PERIOD...GRADUALLY SHIFTING
E INTO CENTRAL CANADA AS A CUTOFF LOW OFF THE WEST COAST IS PICKED
UP BY THE NRN BRANCH OF THE JET STREAM. MEANWHILE...ANOTHER CUTOFF
LOW IN SRN QUEBEC WILL LIFT N WED NIGHT AND THU...ALLOWING HEIGHTS
TO GRADUALLY RISE INTO THE WEEKEND.

Something very interesting happening, that Big Upper Low in the Pac NW is not going to move East... It's moving South! . Don't think I ever saw a full South move with one and it stays off shore.

That means some cooler weather coming to the Pac NW

AWESOME! Thanks for posting this. I hope we need to start seeing stories like this in Ontario, Quebec or Northeast.

Speaking of ..........

Hudson Bay still has Ice on it and the waters are COLD! When you stop and think about the length of time for the warm/cold fluctuations of water it's pretty interesting.

2013 Hudson Bay started freezing early, then stayed cold through spring until warming up by Summer but the waters were still cold which helped it to become frozen solid earlier than normal last year.

Then it became thick with some historic cold so its not going to melt and warm up fast so there might not be enough time eventually years later for it all to completely melt or warm up so it's easier to freeze up early again and thicken.

Also.... Anyone realize the North Atlantic is cooling off big time? Ummm, can you say Icebergs? One wonders if all the new ones formed or ones breaking off is going to be the cause of the AMO flip to cold.
