We just got hit with a nice little surprise shower. I was hearing thunder, but the sun was shining, and I could see no sign of any thunderstorm around. But then it started raining, and the sun stayed shining the whole time. Apparently a cell scraped by just to the east of us, with clear sky to the west.

Here's a pic:

Temp's dropped to 77 - I ain't complaining!

Did you see steam off the pavement and roofs? I get that a lot here after a summer shower and sun. Maybe not if temps dropped too hard.

Didn't notice that - that usually happens after a rain and it clears up right away.

Summer sure would be a whole lot more tolerable if we got rain every afternoon around 4 or 5pm...lol.

Where are you now? Heat is forecasted for here too - mid 90's by Tues. Sure wish I had a trip to Nuuk, Greenland planned.

I love reading the discussions from around.

NWS Baltimore/DC. Smoke, 5000 foot level temps soaring which will make the surface push into the 90s, Heat Index near 100F, NAM model typically too humid, heat Downsloping off the Appalachians Saturday.

NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE BALTIMORE MD/WASHINGTON DC
307 PM EDT WED JUN 10 2015

REMNANT SMOKE OVER THE LOCAL AREA IS
EXPECTED TO THIN OUT TONIGHT AS IT MOVES OUT TO SEA. MAINLY CLEAR
SKIES EXPECTED TONIGHT. UPPER LEVEL RIDGE WILL BUILD RAPIDLY TONIGHT
INTO THU LEADING TO A SIGNIFICANT WARM UP. 850 MB TEMPS SOAR TO
20C THU SUPPORTING HIGHS IN THE LOW TO MID 90S. SFC DEWPOINTS WILL
ALSO BE ON THE INCREASE WITH HEAT INDICES APPROACHING 100F BUT
THIS IS STILL BELOW THE HEAT ADVISORY CRITERIA OF 105F. A FEW
T-STORMS ARE POSSIBLE ALONG THE MASON-DIXON LINE THU AFTERNOON AS
CDFNT MOVES SOUTH ACROSS PA.

850MB TEMPS HOVERING AROUND 18 DEGREES CELSIUS WHICH WILL RESULT
IN MOST OF THE REGION REACHING THE LOWER 90S FOR HIGH TEMPS. MORE OF
A SPREAD IN MODEL GUIDANCE ON THE DEW PTS...WITH THE NAM BEING THE
TYPICAL MORE MOIST SOLUTION. EVEN SO USING A BLEND OF NAM AND GFS
SHOWS DEW PTS REACHING THE LOWER 70S EAST OF THE BLUE RIDGE. THIS
COMBINED WITH THE 90S TEMPS WILL PUSH HI VALUES INTO THE UPPER
90S...WITH ISOLATED SPOTS ACROSS THE PIEDMONT REACHING THE CENTURY
MARK. NOT ANTICIPATING HEAT ADVISORY LVLS TO BE MET AT THIS
TIME...EVEN IN A WORST CASE WITH THE WARMEST TEMPS AND HIGHEST DEW
PTS. LITTLE RELIEF FRI NIGHT WITH LOWS MAINLY IN THE 70S.

LITTLE CHANCE ON SAT DESPITE A SHIFT TO A WLY FLOW. DOWNSLOPING WILL
STILL RESULT IN TEMPS PUSHING INTO THE 90S...THOUGH DEW PTS ARE
EXPECTED TO BE SLIGHTLY LOWER
