The United States has become a much more litigious society since you were in high school, so school districts might close down during extreme heat or cold so they don't have to deal with any liability. The last thing a school district needs is somebody suing because their child suffered from heat exhaustion or heat stroke.

100 degree weather possible for my area Sun-Tue.

From the Charleston NWS:

Saturday through Monday...Atlantic high pressure will slowly
retrograde and become centered directly over the southeastern United
States late this weekend and into early next week while a solid
westerly flow occurs off the surface. The pattern along with strong surface
heating under mostly sunny skies will favor very warm and somewhat
dry conditions under large scale subsidence. 1000-850mb thickness
values support maximum temperatures in the low/middle 90s away from the coast.
However...given strong surface heating as well as a downsloping wind
aloft and little relief from shower/thunderstorm activity...surface
temperatures will likely approach the middle to upper 90s to start off next
week. We could even see high temperatures approach 100 degrees over extreme
western zones Sunday and Monday afternoon. These temperatures along with
surface dewpoints in the middle to upper 60s during peak heating...should
result in heat index values near 105 degrees west of Interstate 95
on Sunday and Monday.
Heat advisories could eventually be needed
early next week. Low temperatures will remain mild each night...in the
low/middle 70s.

-1°C was recorded inland last night. Today's high was 23°C, tomorrow will be warm as well. Then it's back to 14°C. This spring and summer have also been very windy, I can't really remember a quiet day.

we have 2 98 degree days in the forecast one on Monday other on Tuesday. lows in the mid 70s are also in the forecast. the long range forecast shows us in the 90s until the end of june. same as 2014 hot june followed by cooler july. I imagine we will finish at 88-89 degree average high this june and then watch july be far cooler than normal and finish at 87-88.

Once again.. Storms in PA, NY and Vermont...Nothing here. Love the coast

trees wires down all over that area again in PA.
Some cells are Tornadic in NY

One developed over NW NJ, I will assume will vanish like the night before it hits the CT border.

Nice front showing up
