I'm trying to make the summers warm but still comfortable without AC which means cool nights and a cap on how hot it can get. Still perfectly presentable beach weather. The real San Diego coastline averages only in the mid 70s but can get those Santa Ana winds well over 100.

This climate lacks that beach-killing June Gloom (marine layer with cool by summer standards temperature) and those horrid Santa Anas (extremely hot dry heat with humidity as low as 1 percent and strong gusty winds sparking wildfires) that the real San Diego gets. More importantly, wildfires just don't happen because it gets enough rain year round but enough dry days year round without a pronounced rainy or dry season. Fall and Spring are little bit drier than summer and winter though.

Mostly nice. But the ultra hot summer thing would not work for me.

B.

The summers may be a bit too warm due to their humidity, but a pleasant and beautiful climate overall.

Three reasons: 1) $$$: Do you pay your own bills? 2) Energy: It burns fossil fuels to run the AC and that same energy could be used on something else (like powering more computers!). 3) It feels better just to open a window at night for some fresh air.

I live in a winter peaking area, it's only a fraction of the heating expense. Ceiling fans will save you a lot.

Yes, in October. Cool nights don't feel like summer.
