The rain isn't expected to get here until tonight. The real cooldown won't occur until Sunday down here. Highs are forecast to be in the 50s both Sunday and Monday with lows down in the mid 30s.

I "dig" it. . -10C at 4000' likely Sunday. You can see with this image below how the Arctic air is pushing south.

---------------------

So looks like the Euro "thinking" was onto something last week but the details (as usual) were off that far out.

Canadian is picking up the coastal storm and the Clipper, they DO NOT phase PLUS not the location you want a coastal low. See where the "L" is near CT?

Lots of S/SE flow all the way to Vermont! High Peaks get some accumulations with the scenario but it would be too warm for us for any snowflakes because of where the storm develops with the front according to this model.

Areas near Lake Erie do well with the Canadian. Picks up over half foot at my sisters house south of Buffalo

Heads up... Just the fact that we are seeing a "Clipper" style storm should give an indication that the Polar Jet Stream wants to play and fight. Different type of flow versus a storm from the SouthWest to Great Lakes. Could this become the scenario in up coming weeks?

Ready? Here's the Euro12z hr 216.

Typhoon "MIGHT" recurve into North Pacific.

The EPO is going to go Negative.. that will allow a trough to dig from the North Pole and meet with the Western trough.. The cold air is actually going to be from a cold source of Alaska as well.

PNA will head positive so that means a ridge in West will pop up and the Arctic cold shown here will curl into the East....

but because the NAO is positive it's just going to swing right out. (as the case past several weeks).

So basically looking about the Dec 3rd time frame for that air to get to the East? Will moderate naturally but that is some crazy cold air there. -22C at 850mb? Well below normal for this time of year even for Montana!

Ohio +13C next Friday . 9 days away.. Warm East still going on.. I said will continue till mid December give or take a few days

The same here for Sunday and Monday.

NWS is calling for 54/36F Sunday but TWC shows 33F for the low Sunday night. Hopefully we will get our first frost of the season.

Was a good morning for a it's warmer at the summit of Mt. Washington. Seems to happen on clear, dry nights with strong radiational cooling. I think it's more common for 3000-4000 feet to have the warmest morning temperatures.

It was a cold morning today, saw thick frost everywhere. Found it uncomfortable against my skin, didn't mind previous mornings.

Speaking of Iowa.. new NAM model puts eastern Iowa in the bullseye. Chicago gets jipped.

Snow starts Friday afternoon in Iowa then Saturday morning in Michigan.
