100% agree with this, I've always thought that too and I live here. When you're more than 4 miles inland the sea breeze means nothing. What good is a breeze if it's 92 F with 60% humidity? Doesn't exactly have a cooling effect, IMO.
That being said, I'll take Miami for more interesting weather. Although if I lived in LA I'd be closer to snow. Hmmmmm....not sure. I don't like drought though. So I'll take Miami.
Miami has many surprise rainstorms that come out of nowhere, dump gallons of water everywhere, then disapear just as fast as they came. Definitely interesting compared to nearly constant sunshine in LA!
I prefer Miami as it is certainly more interesting. Los Angeles has too dry climate, sunshine is nice but sometimes would be good to have some rain and thunder.
If I was on the beach though, it would mean every afternoon getting up and moving my towel to shelter..
What's wrong with a natural shower? Might be refreshing midday. As long as there's not lightning on the beach, wouldn't want to get fried. Yea, I guess danger of stuff getting wet is annoying.
That's my thought. I've lived in L.A. (only visited Miami) and I really don't care for sweating so much. Or the bugs, snakes, etc. L.A. is pleasant to be outdoors most days of the year at some point during the day. You need a light jacket at times, but that's it.

Yes it's the problem of LA climate, it's comfortable for a lot of people but it's also incredibly boring because of the repetitive same weather, while Miami is more varied and fascinating (but in Florida Orlando is better in my opinion) in term of weather.
It's the choice : comfortable repetitive weather or varied and fascinating weather...
Never been to those two places, but I'd probably give the edge to LA based on what I've heard.
Would easily take these climates over New York, lol. New York during the winter is freaking brutal.
Yeah, that average high of 40 F in January sure is brutal. Not sure how people survive that. Siberia with its -40 F average highs has nothing on NYC.
