To go along with the pics.... Multiple Microbursts confirmed. Man I got lucky.. I knew that constant thunder meant business, then a complete shutdown when storm came too close to the coast.

NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE ANALYSIS OF RADAR DATA INDICATES A LINE OF
THUNDERSTORMS PRODUCED MULTIPLE MICROBURSTS IN SOUTHERN CONNECTICUT
ON TUESDAY AFTERNOON...JUNE 23RD. THESE MICROBURSTS RESULTED IN
ESTIMATED WIND GUSTS OF 90 TO 95 MPH.
IN COORDINATION WITH CONNECTICUT STATE OFFICIALS AND NATIONAL
WEATHER SERVICE DATA ANALYSIS...THE THUNDERSTORM WIND DAMAGE IS
BEING CLASSIFIED AS STRAIGHT LINE WINDS.

MICROBURST /STRAIGHT LINE WIND DAMAGE/ IN EASTHAMPTON IN
HAMPSHIRE COUNTY MA ON OCTOBER 8 2014.
A THUNDERSTORM THAT PUSHED ACROSS SOUTH CENTRAL HAMPSHIRE COUNTY
EARLY WEDNESDAY MORNING DROPPED A STRONG MICROBURST IN EASTHAMPTON
NEAR THE HOLYOKE LINE. THE MICROBURST BEGAN AT ABOUT 453 AM ON THE
WEST SIDE OF MOUNT TOM...AND MOVED FROM SOUTH-SOUTHWEST TO NORTH-
NORTHEAST ALONG THE EDGE OF THE RANGE. DUE TO ITS LOCATION ALONG
THE RANGE...WIND SPEEDS WERE INCREASED WHICH CAUSED A LARGE SWATH
OF TREES TO EITHER BE UPROOTED OR SNAPPED. A LARGE AMOUNT OF TREES
COVERED ROUTE 141/MOUNTAIN ROAD...TRAPPING A FEW CARS ON THE
ROADWAY.
^^ Was the wind bad while you were driving? I think you missed the worst of it anyhow.
A couple years back, when I was driving through Ohio on the way to Michigan, I got slammed by a nasty storm, and it was a real struggle to keep that car on the road. I thought for sure I'd get blown right off...lol. I have no idea of the wind speed, but the trees were bowing over pretty bad. Then the rain come down so hard I had to pretty much stop, since I couldn't see. A few minutes after that, I saw a bolt hit the ground about 50 feet away. It was pretty loud - and bright...lol.
