This August will be the 41st consecutive month with above average temperatures. The last month that was colder than average was March 2013.

Tonight is the 42nd "tropical night" in a row, using the 20°C threshold.

Today is also the 25th consecutive day without any precipitation.

Geez
Man, that is a crappy combination. If it's gonna be dry and boring at least let it be nice and cool.

Tbh the highs are pretty benign, so it's not as bad comfort-wise as that stat suggests. I prefer summer to be warm to hot anyway. There's plenty of time left for nice, cool and boring weather, so at least let summer be summer. Summer and fall are the only seasons I look forward to as a weather enthusiast here.

Wait, we'll get 5 inches over a couple hours sometime between now and the end of November. That'll be it with exciting weather for 2016.

I know, we just can't seem to get a below average month. The average temperatures for this century are way higher than either the 1961-1990 or the 1971-2000 period.

It's been over 100 days since I last heard thunder, and 300 days since the last overheard thunderstorm here.

This truly is the worst year for thunder I have personally experienced. I've never known anything like it.

We had loads of thunderstorms from April-June, then a few sporadic ones in July and August. The last one was about a week ago.

We've officially had 15 thunderstorms this August (as of yesterday) over ORD, though some parts of the Chicago metro area have had even more, or less.

This one was my favorite streak; When New York Baked for 12 Sweltering Days - The New York Heat Wave of 1953. In September, yet. Other notables were topping or touching 100 for four summers in a row in 1952-55 and then three summers in a row from 2010-2.
