You have lost ! 93 °F in NYC Central Park for Tuesday, it's quite exceptional for NYC to not reach 90°F in a entire summer.
2004 came close. Only two, one hit 90 the other 91. The problem is that Central Park is getting quite forested (see opening post) so days that would have been borderline 90 back in the day are now in mid-to-upper 80's. A real heat wave, such as the kind we had in 2010, 2011 and 2013 will still do it. But many borderline situations are staying in 80's.
1991 and 1993 had the record 90+'s for the summer; 41. In 1991 we started the first week of April, had a few in May, a few more in June, lots and July and a few in August and well into September. We just rolled through that summer and stayed warm all the way until late March, when the pattern started to buckle, Unfortunately the next summer was payback; very cool and lots of showers and thunderstorms, after a promising first half of Memorial Day weekend.
Dont count on any heat for the eastern two thirds. Latest models suggest summer is over... Before it even started. Get used to upper 70's for much of the time
