Not quite as hot as expected today in SW France. Meteo France had 41°C/106°F for Bordeaux, but it only hit 38°C/101°F so far.
Quite muggy near the Pyrenees though. 38°C / 21°C dp combo in Dax (101°F / 69°F dp), yielding a 42°C/108°F heat index. The dew point hit 22°C/73°F earlier, but it was "only" 35°C/94°F at that time.

Why is it so much cooler on the north coast of Spain and so hot along the west shore of France? Does have to do with on-shore and off-shore winds?
The latest GFS run is really quite something - it shows 3 consecutive days above 30C here (possibly 4!). We haven't had anything like that since July 2006. Usually we just reach 30C for one day before it cools down - or in the midst of several days in the 27-29C range.
Here's a rough extrapolation for here of the max temps:
I was in London in July 2006. I can only say one thing. London is not equipped to handle 90 degrees. That was the hottest I ever felt in my life. No A/C ANYWHERE. The buses were a sticky mess.
