Wouldn't use a sharp threshold. Steepness matters. Also rises above surrounding terrain, rather than just elevation. This (halfway up so can't see the full size) is 1700 feet elevation, bottom is 600 feet so 1100 foot rise. I'd call it a mountain.
I would call that a hill, although if it was in town, it would be called Mt something.
Mountains here really need to extend above the bushline, or they're usually called hills.
I know right! That 40C will likey happen, it had no trouble touching 39C yesterday! Extended forecast offers more heat while Melbourne has 18C to low 20's before a 30C at the end of the 7 day. Melbourne has two 35c days and a 22c low in the forecast which as far as I know is hotter than anything at this time of the year in my lifetime there.
The cool downs at night are crazy, after 39C yesterday it's 11C at 4am with the 40 expected today. Close to 30C diurnal ranges
