Not even close, maybe a month at most. This is the coldest month in Nashville's history:

Weather History for Nashville, TN | Weather Underground

I don't think anyone is saying the South has better winters lol....just that they're more impressive for their latitude. I don't think anywhere else at the same latitude could record a -4 C January at a modest elevation, except maybe East Asia.

How about this for a winter month at 39 N?

Well I just randomly picked a month haha.

To me somewhere with a 1c average high like nj should have snow all winter, not temps up to 16c. That's crazy warm.

1c average high in NW Europe means -2c to 3c high. Not -7c /17c

I remember looking at that day, January 19, 1994, and wondering what it must have been like on that day. I was too young to remember. Got a little taste of it on February 16 of this year. Had to get blood drawn early in the morning. It was 2 F (-17C) as I left. I had the first appointment. I got there before anyone else... I had barely walked ten yards across the parking lot to see that the door was still locked and my hands felt like they were in serious pain. Went back to the car... really had no choice but to start it back up so I could have the heater running. Usually a heavy jacket would have been enough... not on that day.

Brutally cold. Makes you feel alive.

Meh. 2°F. My mornings average -2°F this February. I went for short walks in 2°F and wiped my car off in that.

Went for a 5, maybe 10 minute walk in -12°F. Eww.

I don't know why you focus on the warm anomalies so much. A place with a 1 C average high is much more likely to have a -7 C than a 17 C high. -15 C would be more comparable in terms of rarity. Anyways, even with the wild swings, it still averages much colder than you.

I had 0f and it wasn't cold? I mean obviously but not like bitter.

I have had -0c with 50mph winds and that went right through me!

Yea, I don't get it either. Here's Hartford's distribution (average 35°F)
