We did get to see some of that back in '11 (the day Syracuse hit 101.) Saw Lake Placid (91 there...lol) and rode up to Whiteface Mtn (60's at the top ). That was a huge amount of driving to do in a single day, though.

We camped at a state campground near Saranac Lake Memorial Day weekend. Wasn't a nice campground (it was next to a Ford dealership!) and speaking of outdoor temperatures — too cold. One morning was in the low 30s. Brr. Low 40s I can deal with but low 30s isn't fun.

It's been ages since I've been camping - would love to get back into it. (my other half isn't too keen on it though. )

I've done the tent cabins at Yosemite, the high elevation part at over 8000 feet. It was early Sept and it got down into the 30's overnight - yes, that was a bit chilly. I wanted to linger under the covers when I woke up, but know how it is when you have to go to the bathroom *real bad*?

Much rather deal with chattering teeth than be too warm, though.

If it's done with totally free will, I don't see what the problem is.

But it's not done totally with free will. It's a form of prostitution. It's sex for money. It's sexual exploitation.

Some idiot on another forum is claiming that Heathrow airport weather station is inaccurate because of all the tarmac & buildings there... He also claimed it was situated on a roof & when I informed him otherwise, that it was actually situated on grass & met the standard WMO site regulations, he said the site was affected by aircraft engines & it recorded higher temperatures because of all the absorbed heat... Even though Heathrow has the same average high in July as Kew Gardens, which is surrounded by, well gardens

This came about as I made the point that airports due to their large open nature record colder temperatures than their surrounding areas. Heathrow for example dropped to -8C last winter, yet areas close to Heathrow dropped no lower than -4C... Surely if they absorbed that much heat they would record higher minimums during the winter?
