Different people have different views, I don't find it depressing.

Thanks.

My mom visited Munich in the early 70s. Only big city she had ever been in before was New York City. She thought Munich felt very small.

I guess it would be scary if you're not used to big cities. New York probably feels larger and more crowded than London.

I think it does, though a few shopping streets in London might get close crowding-wise. Larger is a bit hard to compare, it's been a while.

NYC's metro is by far the largest I've been to it's substantially larger than every other big city I've visited. Including

Chicago
Dallas
Edinburgh
Miami
San Francisco
Indianapolis
London
Charlotte
DC
Philadelphia
Boston
Houston
Providence
San Diego
Denver
Atlanta
Raleigh
Los Angeles
Austin
Jacksonville
Columbia
Berlin
Prague
Budapest
Mexico City
Toronto
Phoenix

However instead of being scary I found NYC to be beautiful and awe inspiring (although it may have helped that the city was blanketed with a fresh dusting of snow during my last visit)

I guess it has to be chalked up to personal preference whether one finds a place like NYC to be Majestic or frightening.
