Just be happy they did something nice for you clearly the person who tended you and your mom are both nice people so who cares? It's not a competition of being nicer than the other lol. Although, I kind of get what you're saying though.

In my country when we give someone a gift we expect nothing back, it is part of our culture.
As a christian I am supposed to keep my donations private so that they cannot be recognised, no one should be the benefit of being kind.
