I'd love to live in a place where air conditioning is virtually non existant. So what if you have a high near 90 most days, if it's 50 at night you don't need it. It was cool being in Colorado last summer how all the shops around the towns just had their doors wide open. Unlike here where you have to shut out the hot air as fast as possible.

Have you checked out Rapid City? A lot of people out in the Hills don't have AC. The ones who have it rarely use it.

Not Atlanta.

If you're looking for good weather from October - May, Atlanta is a good choice though.

Why? For the 3 hours that it's marginally warm in the afternoon.

I have, it looks like a nice area I just have a feeling I would feel too isolated out there. It's 350 miles to Sioux Falls and over 400 miles to Denver.

pretty much agree with this; and even in May it's a bit too hot

Rapid has grown a lot the past few years and the area has about 120,000 people now. You can check with DannyBannany because they have got a lot of new stores and malls, etc. I'm not sure if you live right in OKC, but if you do, I guess RC would seem a bit small to you.

Yes, I live in the "burbs". 25 minutes from downtown. It's not that I mind a city the size of Rapid, I just would like to have a city like Denver within a couple hours away.

Melbourne's climate is such that, either A/C or heating is NOT needed. But my parents are wimps and need to use AC when it gets above 30ºC (daytime) and heating when it gets below 10ºC (nighttime).

If it was up to me, I'd save the money coz frankly here neither is actually needed. The heat (and cold) is not severe enough to require artificial intervention.

A/C is needed here on hot summer days 35 degrees celcius but no heating is required even on the 2-3 degree celcius nights.
