^^ agreed, whats the point of heating at night when you are under 3 doonas anyways? In AUstralia, only wimps use electric blankets and heaters Personmally, I NEVER turn on my heating in the mornings, even on those 3 and 4ºC mornings because frankly, I can just put my nightgown on, drink coffee and stay warm! Why waste money on heating when it doesn't even get below freezing??? As for A/C, I only use when the daytime temp is in the mid-high 30's (around mid 90's to 100's F) and nights around 26-27ºC (mid 80's). This occurs perhaps 20 days a year at most... My parents insist on A/C if its over 30C in the day and 20C at night! C'mon, harden the fudge up!
And my dad wants to live in CANADA!!!!!!!!!! Goodness me, he is shocked when the forecast says 5ºC and then he rushes for the heater!
I think we all know everyone is going to say the best weather is where they live. I think that living on higher elevations are great for any time of year. Not only do you get that clean, crisp air all year round but such beautiful nights without all those city lights and smog covering the millions of stars, summers arent so brutal, its not 'humid' (as some complain about) and then theres the 'real' winters.
Coastal Southern California. Pleasant sunny days, cool evenings, and gentle breezes. Northern california is just as nice, but a little cooler during the day. Most other places in the US are too hot, too humid, or too rainy in the summer to be considered the best.
Melbourne climate looks pretty nice and very mild. kinda rainy though.
Actually is sucks majorly. I seen perhaps 5 sunny days over the last 3 months. Summer's are okay, but not really ideal if you enjoy lots of heat. Some summer mornings are overcast and cold (~60F) and many afternoons have an annoying, strong cold seabreeze that has you running for the jumper.
This is a very typical summer month here:
(the overnight minimums on the 1st and 11th were actually around 30ºC - we have a silly 9am-9am min temp rule which erases the true overnight min if the 9am temp the day before was lower.)

I know what you mean about the seabreeze, theres nothing worse than having a brilliant day and then in comes the blaming seabreeze, quite good though when its blazing on the cricket field.
Nice stats there above the usual 25.9C I think it is.
Are those temps higher than say 1990-1999?, I know over here the summers through 2000-2007 have been a good 2C warmer than from the 1990-1999 period.
Melbourne is not in the US, however, and really doesn't enter into consideration here.
