Well, I'm sure they ask the same when we get r 90 F weather in March. I don't see what's absurd about it.
Plenty of people (I'd wager most) worldwide live in a place where 90F is possible in march. Only a small fraction live in a place where you can get EIGHT inches of snow in September. It just amazes me how people can deal with weather like that!
Only 2 days out of 90 yrs got that much in September. Not common. Sorry.
Only 4 September's had more snow than they do this yr. Not common to get this much.
September snow is far from uncommon in Fairbanks though. My argument wasn't that eight inches of snow isn't impressive, I just wasn't agreeing with AJ that must be sooooo difficult to live there. But yes eight inches is a lot for Fairbanks in September

Oh for sure. But since ghost-likin didn't actually quote anyone I thought he/she was making the comment on the actual event that just happened which is not common.
The Biggest daily September snowfall record in Fairbanks is 7.8" in 1992. 7" in 1972. They had 6.7" today at time of report. So today is the 3rd biggest snowfall for a September day. Are they done?
Snow reports coming in from Alaska. 4-9" of snow including a big daily snowfall record in Fairbanks.
