I experienced thundersnow...it was either in North Dakota, or Maryland. Probably ND but for some reason my brain won't exclude the possibility that it happened in MD.
Now, SNOW isn't all that common here.. We usually see 1 or 2 storms each year.. What you see in that video (outside of an asshat that can't operate a camera) would close schools for the day, possibly two days. And, probably would be melted a couple hours afterwards.
We do tend to get ice storms.. We're right on the 'freezing rain' line.
It happen where I live last year (Maryland). It scared me so much, I had no idea what was happening in that 30-60 moment. I had never experience it before. The thoughts that ran through my head where--is there a plane crashing down? Is this an earthquake? Did a tractor trailer just hit a house?
It was bizarre and scary.
We had an ice storm in Bremerton, Washington state in 2010 and I got caught in all the traffic trying to make it home. We had ice on the roads, snow was falling, and then while I was stuck in traffic next to an open field, there was a flash of lightning and a boom of thunder. We do get snow occasionally, ice storms very rarely, and thunderstorms once in a while. To get all three at the same time would have been awe inspiring if I hadn't been bumper to bumper in traffic and 2 hours and three miles from where I started.
