I prefer cloudy weather. I'd definitely prefer the UK over Australia. However, I can't say I'd prefer the UK over all of the US, simply because the UK doesn't generally get the kind of winter weather I like. I like it cold and snowy. I'd rather live in a continental US climate with more sunshine hours but also more winter snow than a less sunny and less snowy oceanic UK climate.

Normally I love the sunny California weather, but in a drought year like this, I felt wistful for beautiful, green, drizzly England while watching last night's "The Great British Baking Show."

Australia for warmth and sun paired with about 30-40 inches of rain a year and not the U.K's cold, overcast drizzle crap. Southern California has been doing REALLY well with rain over the past several months; 2 inches in San Diego in July, an inch and a half in September and more in the forecast for tomorrow. You in San Francisco haven't got anything yet.

The United States is extremely sunny. Check out this map. Southern California is as sunny as Africa.

I hate the sun, so I would love to live in Scotland. My family has nicknamed me Dracula. LOL!

Actually, Iceland, according to that map, looks really good to me right now!

My twin.

Have used this very map to illustrate to people just how awful it was to be like me growing up in a place like Southern California. Is it any wonder I escaped in my very early 20s for the PNW.

Alaska is superior to all of them though, even if there is too much light in the summer, the twilights last for hours and the temps as a rule rarely climb much past 75.

Beats 90+ degree heat as the PNW was getting clobbered with this past summer..

Australia has one of the best range of climates on Earth. USA also has many fantastic sunny climates like Hawaii, Southern California and Southern Florida
Much better than a cloudy and cool country like the UK.
