I don't mind it and I've got the clothes for it since I like to head to the mountains a lot during the winter.
I was living in Chicago during the winter of 93-94 and I saw later that it was one of the coldest winters with many days below zero and I made it through that...LOL
I do remember it being so cold one night that one of the TV channels had a warning scrolling across the bottom of the screen about "life threatening" cold and to dress warmly and stay out of the wind chill..something to that effect. I agree with Steve-O though that if you're dressed for it, then it's tolerable..and the air is so clean and skies so blue. I like winter so I'm excited to be going back... I actually hope for a cold and snowy first winter back next year!!

Isn't every winter cold and snowy that far north?

It sure is in Toronto, as our mildest winters still had 25-30 inches of snow and once we "only" went down to 6 F.

I agree with you. The super cold nights are extremely refreshing, and you can see every dimple on the moon the skies are so clear.

I would like to have a couple of days per year with below zero temperatures Fahrenheit just for interesting experience, but I wouldn't like if it lasted for weeks. I don't really like extreme cold (although I still take it over extreme heat), I prefer -10C - 0C temperature range in winter

Sub zero temperatures (-18°C and below) are very rare events here.
The coldest i have experienced was 1°F, this was with sunny skies and calm winds so it doesn't felt bad.
And this was also during the morning hours, our lowest maximum ever is 8°F and that was back in 1956, even winter highs in the teens F occur only every few years here.

So as long as the sub zero reading is a low, i'm fine with that for a week but as a high i would only like to experience this as one or two days every other year, as this is just way too cold for me.

It depends on what time of the day. I wouldn't want daytime temps being around -1C...

Below zero weather on nights/early mornings are welcoming. We get subzero temps once every 2 years or so. The more inland suburbs of Sydney get them often.

It is utterly useless. An ideal absolute minimum for normal years is 30-35F.

I hate sub zero days, but such days are expected on an annual basis in Indianapolis, which means that residents of Indianapolis ought to expect temperatures to dip below zero every winter, so the two winters previous to this winter where Indianapolis failed to reach zero degrees was a climatic anomaly that has not been seen since at least the 1950's if not the late 1930's when the city went three winters in a row with temperatures that failed to reach zero degrees, those winters in a row where 1936-1937, 1937-1938, 1938-1939. So the winters of 2011-2012 and 2012-2013 Indianapolis lucked out having such mild temperatures for so long.

I choose 'love it'. Maybe not for months on end, but I love subzero more than I hate it. It is refershing, and certainly much better than heat.

I had to walk into a walk in freezer the other day, with was at -18°C or 0°F. I couldn't even last two seconds in there. With a coat on.

I have experienced 50°C / 122°F (artificially likewise) and could stand that for more than half an hour.... not getting too uncomfortable, the heavy sweating was annoying though, always dripping into my eyes. But I could stand it, -18°C I cold not, and it felt very very dangerous.
