I too keep the bedroom cold at night. There are two reasons: 1. I have blankets to keep warm and 2. Body temperature naturally drops at night, and a cold room helps accelerate this process and encourage sleepiness.
62 degrees Fahrenheit. Los Angeles, California. Our colder nights are in the 30's (F) but mostly above freezing, so the heat does have to run at times, even here, to maintain that temperature, which would be too chilly for most people according to other threads on the subject.
We don't have a heater or an air conditioner so it's whatever the ambient air temperature is outside. We do have an electric blanket though, for in the dead of winter when it gets below 60 °F outside. It will get into the low 50's and then we freeze to death and have to wear socks.
Winter - I set the thermostat to 65 when I'm home, and turn it off when I'm not. I pump it up a couple degrees when I hop in the shower and turn it off again when I get out.
Summer - I set the thermostat to 78 when I'm home, 75-76 when I go to bed, and turn it off when I leave for work in the morning. I turn it back to 78 remotely when I leave work so my house isn't a total sauna when I get back home.
