Instead of discussing what's gonna happen 50 weeks out or next winter, when models aren't even reliable more than about five or six days out, why don't people ever talk about their current conditions? Seriously, this thread is flooded with forecasts from like three weeks from now as if those models even mean anything at this point.

Seems people hardly talk about their current weather conditions anymore on here. The only people who do it besides me are Cambium and Wildcat15.

Today is record cold, what else more could you discuss? We tied a record set in 1956

Basically the upper third along I-85.

Just post your observations? I like to post them on here every few hours or so. Observations alone are interesting enough to discuss, why discuss what's going to happen a month from now when there's no sure way of really knowing what's gonna happen?

I just don't get what's the point of discussing what "might" happen in July or December on May 16.

I do it because George is infamous for constantly posting these forecasts for weeks out and I respond to his.

Interesting conversation regarding GA mountains getting less snow than neighboring states. I wish NorthStartDelight would start posting again. I miss his OBS and comments.

Lol, few others do as well including nei. I try to mix it up with current obs stuff, short long range forecasts(< 2 wks) but I agree on seasonal forecasts months away and constant PDO talk. Kinda turning off the thread to others or new members. I just wish more posted in here. I see so many new members posting in other threads but never about current weather.

Sure we can all look at an OBS map and see whats going on but we cant look at every location all the time. So its nice to come here and see it posted with a comment.

Piggy back rant over.

Yeah so bad of me to post model forecast about spring in the SPRING 2016 thread.

Are people suggesting that I shouldn't post from my local weather blog like I did last night because it gave a temperature departure for the next week?

It's not like I don't post daily and weekly updates as well.....

Here happy

I don't talk about current weather conditions much because the weather is boring. For example, today is 16C/61F with partly cloudy skies, not exactly riveting stuff. I'll probably talk more about it when there's something worth talking about.
