Lol right? Though mid and upper 70s dews is certainly high enough to be interesting. I was actually reveling in those 77-79 F dew points we were getting a couple of weeks ago lol.
I wouldn't mind an average high of 91-92 F, but with highs ranging from say 76-107 F or so throughout the summer, instead of a lame ass 89-94 F range. Basically just more variable.
My Summer avg preference is between 82F-84F with highs ranging from 60F-95F and average lows between 60F-62F with lows ranging from 45F-75F. Any temps higher and lower than the ranges I mentioned should be a special treat.
Yes we do, it isn't common but it happens. On July 22, 2011 DC's heat index topped out at 121F (49.4C).
Not all that common here by any means either. Maybe a little more so than the Northeast cities such as NYC or Philly. DC however is more in line with St Louis.
High was 88F/31C today. Good pool weather
Think later this week will be beach time
Heat index almost unbearable. Most of Illinois 110-115F, with a few spots approaching 120F. That yellow blotch just south of Chicago is near me!
Btw, this week back in 1934..... average high temp from July 19th through July 25th was 105F/41C... Yeah I would say that's pretty hot for these parts... LOL

Just checked the records. In July of 2011 I reached a heat index of 119F, and that was at 11AM. We had three 100F days and three 81F dew points in a row.
Very warm unpleasant night. Only managed to sleep a little less than 6 hours. The heat made me restless. Woke up at 5 am. When I checked the temp around 6 it was already 78.
Average dewpoint for this July still 71.477. The most humid month was august 2000 surprisingly! With a dewpoint of 72.14. 100 looking possible this weekend.
