Don't listen to him. Mid 70s is near or extreme record low max temps for many in the region aside from the UHI NYC.. So it WAS impressive and should be again tomorrow I think.
We don't have mid 70s for lows often.. It's not common even for Long Island.
Bridgeport low was 75. Record is 76.
Hartford low was 71. Record is 73.
Buffalo low was 72. Record was 71.
Philly low was 76. Record is 78.
Atlantic City low was 77. Record was 75.
Our low was 76F in interior southeast PA about 30 miles from Philadelphia, 400' elevation - warmest low since 2011 at least! In addition our forecast low was 69 last night!
There was a brief heavy downpour this afternoon with a couple of fairly close lightning strikes. It looks like I had less rain at home than where I work.
The NOAA 7 day forecast is now calling for about 5 inches here!

Area Forecast Discussion
National Weather Service Lake Charles LA
333 PM CDT WED AUG 10 2016
.DISCUSSION...Radar depicting scattered showers and thunderstorms
over the eastern half of the forecast area...becoming isolated to
the west. With the exception of some heavy rains, inland storms
have remained well behaved. A few special marine warnings have
been required.
Few changes to forecast. Low-mid level low remains in the vicinity
of mobile bay and is expected to meander slowly west through the
remainder of the week. Feature continues to transport some extreme
tropical moisture into the area with the morning LCH PWAT coming
in at 2.33 inches. Normal for this time of year stands at 1.80
inches. Moisture values are expected to continue to trend upward,
and with that occasional bouts of showers and thunderstorms are on
tap. Carrying highest/likely pops at this time over the eastern
portion of the area and a very respectable high end chance to the
west.
Active feature progged to advance west and north of the forecast
area Sunday, but rain chances will continue into the new week as
disturbances incoming around the southwest periphery of
subtropical high move across the area.

I know, even here anything higher than 74/75 is uncommon.
Should I say it yet? Nahh, I'll give it some more time but something tells me we'll be missing the days of dryness around here. Lolololol
Status quo day after day...
That is insanely warm and almost identical to my forecast except we have more 90s. Dog days of summer living up to their name. What even crazier to me you are seeing these Temps under cloudy skies.
For Connecticut they do lol. Yeah I know NYC has 80 degree lows in the forecast because of its massive uhi.
I can't speak for New England, so I'll partially retract my previous claim.

Lows in the mid 70's+ are to be expected, even if they aren't common outside of the big cities. 95F+ highs aren't necessarily a common occurrence, but that doesn't make them impressive, at least not to me.
