We have different niche threads discussing palm trees that always go off topic for the subject matter so I figured let's have a general place to discuss anything to do with palms and the climates they grow in. I love palm trees, they are by far my favourite type of tree. And palms are evidently a hot topic here, so lets all gather around, drink some beer and get foaming over palm trees
I streetviewed some palms from my area. Fan palms and CDIPs are naturalised here and across the Vic border in Mildura, you see some random stands of trees here and there.
From my houseboat I can see a fan palm growing in the water, it's a bit far so can't get a decent pic. Nearby is a dead eucalypt tree in the water with a few fan palm fronds growing on it.
Anyway, a couple streetview pics from Renmark
Random stand growing in the water.
I've never seen palms growing in clumps like this in Melbourne.
The great thing about a country like Australia is that palm trees can be grown in almost every nook and cranny except for alpine areas. Something to be truly celebrated IMHO
Palm trees are epic.. I will post some pictures I have later, but even here there are a good number around. Any type of evergreen plant/tree is good for me!
I don't how anyone could say they hate palm trees, I mean there are thousands of different palms, so it's a bit of a generalisation to collectively hate them all. It's a bit like saying you hate flowers, surely there would be at least one type of flower that you would like...
