Here's the 850mb temps and metars without the radar.


There's snow showers 4000' over the Gulf states. 850mb freezing line down to gulf coast!

Crazy warm surge up the East coast as the storm spins counter clockwise

Look at the warm air wrapping into the center of the storm. Snow on North and West side, Rain on South and East side.

* AT 1203 PM EST...DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM
CAPABLE OF PRODUCING A TORNADO. THIS DANGEROUS STORM WAS LOCATED
NEAR ELKTON...OR 7 MILES NORTHEAST OF WHITEVILLE...AND MOVING
NORTHEAST AT 60 MPH.

This is the one day were warmer temps can be bad. The warmer the temps get before the next wave of storms arrive the stronger the storms get.

Yup, aside from the dynamic spin from the storm, any sun poking through will create instability which in turn is fuel for storms.
