Anyways March is looking very active for severe weather. If it continues on it will break the streak of inactivity seen past few years.Severe weather normally doesn't begin in NC till March. This year it began a couple weeks early. And if this continues the severe weather as we progress through the month will start shifting north. Severe weather was in the deep south just a month ago now it's further north in nc.
Wednesday the 24th, Thursday the 25th. Deja vu if ever I saw it. Same dates, same days of the week in 1965 gave Detroit 12 - 14" of wind blown snow that shut the schools until Tuesday the next week. The NWS is predicting the 12 - 14" west of Detroit this time. But they made that same prediction in 1965 and they were wrong. Same scenario - exactly. Snow AM of 24th mixed with a little rain and sleet PM the 24th. But around 2AM the 25th, snowed so hard the visibility went to near zero and winds whipped up to 40 mph. By 6AM, houses had doorways drifted shut. No busses, no nothing. A total surprise. I think someone's going to get this same scenario. And from the forecasts - point to point, could easily be Detroit. I've called my neighbors up there this morning and told them to get out and clear the grocery store shelves - even on the east side. Take no chances.
Meanwhile, warm, humid, and brilliantly sunny here, closing in on 80F with Dewpoints topping 70F. Would be a great day for the beach before lows are knocked down to the 40's by this front.
