I have the opposite view, heathland is far more attractive in summer when it's all brown and dusty. I think we had this discussion before, and pine barrens are your closest biome to our heathland.

Finally an unbelievable Spring day.

Sunny Blue Skies
70F(21C)
Winds gusting from the West at 20mph
Dewpoint 23F(-5C)

Smell of Lilacs and fresh cut grass. Mmmmmmm!!! My 2 Favorite scents.

The Maple in the back is a Crimson Maple. Has maroon leaf color. Almost fully mature leafed. Another week at least.

Grass closeup

Day #2 of the process. Just 2 hours today then right back inside they go. No direct sunlight yet.

Are your trees still leafless? The pics from Finland look far more green than your area.

Leaves look very small in spots, but most have leaves. There's a definite difference between valley and outside. One hill in the area (Mt. Tom) appeared to have lots maybe a majority of trees without leaves.

In fact, going to the gym now. Biceps, wrist curls and abs today.
A weather geek and a gym buddy. I had a bad head cold last week and missed the whole week. I'm going tomorrow though. Are you 100% Grrek ancestry?

The place is called Strensall Common. It's a local heathland and wildlife reserve. It really is a lovely place for a walk, and looks lovely when it's green at this time of year. Come July the heathland tends to be brown and dead looking, and IMO not anywhere near as attractive.
Unfortunately as my daughter decided she was tired, we didn't really see much of it at all. Bloody kids!

Looks like eastern white pine.

Thanks, that's my favourite small town of my area (Gelnhausen). The slope goes up to about 350 m above sea level and about 210 m above the valley bottom.
