What I find the most interesting about Camden is that one mile away across the Delaware River, you find wealthy and neat neighbourhoods. It's like in Brazil. While I know Philly has some rough areas, the difference is still enormous. It would be hard to comprehend that for example one mile from where I live there would be areas with almost war-zonelike blight and where I couldn't walk safely at night.
I am sure it is all day. There are places here that are sketchy even driving by in daylight, wouldn't step foot any hour of day. Think people coming up to vehicle when stopped at red light, banging on window, trying to open door.

I used to live in Camden County about 5 miles out of Camden, from ages 7-12. I wouldn't call it a wealthy neighborhood, but it was nice and safe. Once you get of of Camden, e.g. Collingwood, which borders Camden, it's nice. Not terribly wealthy though.

Also bordering Camden is Gloucester City, which is largely white blue collar. Not unsafe either.
I was just joking around a bit. Not suggesting all, most, or even a sizable portion of city folks are like that. Nevertheless, it is a strange phobia for such a common and harmless insect - a phobia I assume is much more likely to occur among those who've lived in the city their whole lives.
I've noticed NYers tend to be insect phobic as well. Obviously depends on the person and a generalization.
I've been overestimating my commute time and getting here (Center City Philadelphia) obscenely early. Work starting 1 hour late, but I'd have been on time today if we were starting on time.
I always notice it's people who aren't from Miami the ones who have the most moronic, rosy, stereotypical views on Miami.
