Coldest place in Europe this March?
Mean -14.6°C and avg high -8.6°C, abs low -43°C
Climatologie de l'année 2016 à Hoseda-Hard - Infoclimat
Although February must have been extremely mild for that place

Northern UK at about the same latitude as Bergen.
Climate clearly more maritime at Lerwick with narrower range etc...abs high 11.8°C and abs low -0.7°C. Very mild winters for the latitude and extremely different from Hoseda-Hard Climatologie de l'année 2016 à Lerwick - Infoclimat

Wonder what dhdh has to say about his first subpar Spring month in London?
Well it was not horrible in absolute terms, but rather disappointing as I barely felt any difference with the previous months

Trees still completely bare in my area.

That's just it, it didn't really feel springlike to me with a March averaging 7.6/1.8 when December averaged 10.2/5.0.

For what it's worth, if April here is average (10.7/3.2) it would still be colder than that crazy December was. May 1996 (11.1/3.5) was also colder

It wasn't a great month; it was colder and wetter than average with average sunshine, and lacked any 15-20c days, which you would normally expect a few of in late March.

It went out with a a few record highs.

March continued the string of very warm months for Alaska so far this year, all over the state.

A lot wetter and warmer than normal. Normal is 70.0/48.6F and 5.30" of rain.

Lowest max: 63F
Highest min: 68F

Days with at least an inch of rain: 5

Thunder days: 12 (I had to go with ESF - the secondary airport, instead of the main airport AEX. The thunder sensor must be broken at AEX as the last time it shows thunder being recorded was January 21. )

At ESF, it shows that 89F was reached on March 14. AEX reached 85F that day. ESF also got more rain than AEX with 10.24 inches.
