That's a standard cloud top height for a thunderstorm here, as the tropopause is at a lower altitude compared to the equator. The highest cloud tops recorded here were 55000-60000ft.
Maybe not compared to Chicago, no. One of your big summer storms would make news headlines in England. But then it's to be expected, considering where you live.
I'd love to experience a massive thunderstorm here. Very unlikely though.
I've been lucky enough to see some big ones in Europe, and even in the Middle East.
Yes, the summer vacation is way too long. Here the elementary and high schools last from the first week of September to mid-June and the colleges from early-mid October to July. The three months you don't have classes in definitely get old quickly.
I'd rather have a Spring break like they have it in the US and a few more weeks around Christmas because as it is right now, the final day of school before winter break is Christmas Eve which is much too late as you don't even get to experience the Christmas preparations and the Advent which is the most beautiful time of the year in Zagreb.
are you a teacher though ? my gf is and it is refally difficult to have a trip outside of summer, even easter vacations are just 6 days long
Urania, yeah I agree 6 days of school is really stupid especially when you have so few vacations... I know I would hate it if I was a kid here. I know school days are short, but having to get up almost every goddamn day to be at school at 8 is annoying.
Don't tell me to s t f u when all I'm doing is stating a statistical fact. Most thunderstorms mature between 40,000-60,000ft and that 35,000ft is not at all impressive
