Still on the very western edge of the cone though, I'd be more worried if we were right in the center. Still, we should see some very bad weather here regardless.

Not going to lie, i'm pretty excited lol. It's about time we finally got a hurricane

If I had it my way we would have Category 1 conditions here with maybe a 3-4ft storm surge, 5-8ft waves, and no power for 24-36 hours. I'd rather not have a direct hit though, evacuating would be a pain in the ass and my front yard has some beautiful old trees that I would worry about falling on the house.

I have some family members living in Florida! I hope they are prepared for hurricanes.

even at category 1, storm surge could be very high if the storm is large and stays offshore for a while. The storm isn't very large though. Storm surge forecast for Haiti is modest for Cat 4 (7-11 feet); about the same or slightly less than Sandy in NYC

Could be a direct hit for the outer banks. Most models indicate farther east.

Even where I live might be effected by it this weekend, Maritimes will be for sure.

I wish the TWC still had the storm alert music during hurricanes.
