The biggest cities in India are basically furnaces most of the year, with sky high heat indexes well into the 40s most days and it hardly cools down at night except a few months in the north.
Basically, "feels like", heat index around 110-120 degrees during the day, while around 100 during the night. I would think this is pure torture for most people. What do you think?
I think it's up there for sure... but even though it would be on the hot side for me.... definitely totally tolerable with fans at night.
I believe 99 percent of people there don't have AC and they do just fine!
But a large portion of the population of Chennai would shrivel up and and freeze to death if it ever got as cold as Vancouver does on an average January day.

How they manage is just mind blowing. A fan!? Just look at those random days I picked in those big cities. Kolkata "feels like" temperature peaked that day at 46.5C, the night hovered around 34-35C. Just a normal day in Kolkata! No AC! Its inhumane IMO.

The thing is that when your body is exposed to that temperature every day, it adjusts and people there are very adjusted to temps in the 40s. To them below 20C would be freezing. It's all what you are used to...

Yep: I wonder if Vancouver had a freak humid heat wave (highs of 35C with dewpoints of 25C paired with overnight lows around 28C), how they would fare since most people don't have AC.
deneb would probably enjoy it but those who are not heat lover nor used to it might have a hard time.
Or we could also debate Vancouver without heat vs. Chennai without AC.

People here complain when it gets close to 30C. It's pretty hilarious actually
I think if there was a freak heat wave here with Chennai levels of heat even for a day... the city would declare an emergency and make cooling centres with A/C on full blast for those who need it.
These aren't countries, but what about Oklahoma, and the inland portions of Texas; they routinely see some of the hottest temps in the summer time in the US. Places like Dallas average mid-upper 90s for highs.
Spain also is a place with very hot temps, that isn't desert (it may not even have true deserts at all); areas of southern Spain, such as Seville, get very hot during summer, with average highs in August just shy of 100F.
