It's not "saving" if you're not earning the money lol.

Plenty of students who go away on long trips use their grant or maintenance loan to pay for it. Is that not the same sort of thing?

Where do you think they get the money for the big trips to Australia, that they go on?
Sorry, I should have phrased that "It's not saving if your parents/family are giving you the money". If the source of the money is a loan or grant then the students are responsible for that money and are making real financial sacrifices in order to pay for their "Trips to Australia".

I can tell you from experience that a lot of university students get their Maintenance Loan/Grant and blow it on luxury items such as Computers or Cars.

A computer or a car is far more useful than a holiday to California.

You can do work on a computer among other things, and a car is a mode of transportation. A holiday is just a few days somewhere else that will become mere memories thereafter.

Actually, I've found that strong lovely memories make me feel much better than vanities and materials.

If I think back on my best memories, they won't be when I've played computer games for months on end during school breaks, they'll be vacations and time spent with the ones I love.

What part of California? That's gonna cost a fortune, especially considering the quality of hotels you stay at.
