really, I see heaps of people criticise the police in america, definitely more than 10%
Obviously 90% is a hyperbole, the point is far too many people have that mentality. Yes, lots of people criticize cops here, but a similar or even greater percentage of people will literally back up ANYTHING a cop does or the military.

I've barely seen anyone praise them, it must be the social circle I'm in. It's about 50/50 here in Australia with the police - you love them or you hate them. IMO they give too much of a **** about speeding cars and not enough on rising crime levels.

It's usually middle age/older white republicans that back anything they do up, and a few militant minorities as well.
Yeah, the speeding thing is stupid. A ploy to generate revenue guised as it being for our "safety". People don't realize that distracted driving is much more of a threat on the road than speeding.

Same thing happens here as well, but not to the same extent. You get people who fight in Iraq and Afghanistan and they're called 'heroes' - I mean, I have nothing against these people, but it's not like WW2 where there was an actual threat on our border. Most of these modern wars are pointless and people are dying for no reason. People who are barely adults (18/19) are getting killed on the battlefront. Stupid, stupid, stupid.
War's always been the same though - a bunch of old men pushing pieces of plastic on a map, sending a bunch of kids do to their fighting.

Constantly checking my speedometer to see if I'm more than 5km/hr over the limit is annoying and pointless, and you're right in that it's more dangerous than speeding.
I would say speeders and tailgaters aren't targeted enough here. So many incompetent *******s on the road. I'm not sure who's worst, the 20 year old with an invincibility complex speeding in a BMW, the 40 year old soccer mom in a SUV who thinks she owns the road, or the 70 year old in a Cadillac going 20 MPH.

This is a "road safety initiative" introduced by none other than the labor party under Steve Bracks back in the early 2000's. Cops are nothing but revenue raising agents for the gubbermunt.
All you see are speed limit reductions left right and center and an ever ballooning number of socialist nanny state laws and regulations. You can map out Melbourne's entire metro area just by the revenue cameras
