and the westerlies come from inland, how the **** is that meant to be cold? unless it's south-westerly with an associated cold front but it's sunny all week and it's warming up!
Might be the feeling from lower dewpoints. The last few days here have had day time dewponts below 0C. While I enjoy the calm and clear weather associated with low RH, there is definitely a chill to those days I don't really like. I look forward to the rain forecast for tomorrow because the dewpoints will rise to more comfortable levels.
Joe, but you're likely getting much colder weather than 19-24 C.
We can both agree that calling that "icy" is ridiculous, right?
Yep, I certainly wouldn't call it icy.
I still get that same feeling at warmer temperatures during a SE airflow here though. I don't like summer days here with low dew points, and am happy that that most days of the year here are in the moderately humid category.
Honestly, I think I would like Lexington. Varied climate, much smaller population, probably a lot less crowded, etc.
I just wish the winters were like 10-15 F colder there.
The road infrastructure seems insufficient, and it becomes very crowded around rush hour. Otherwise, the city is a nice size to be stimulating but not overwhelming.
Maybe it could be a climate stepping stone for you. Spending years in Miami and moving straight to Minnesota sounds like quite a shock!
I wish the threads "Things C-D weather forum members ALWAYS say" and "things Citydata weather forum members would NEVER say" hadn't been closed. They were pretty funny at times.

I was thinking of re-opening them earlier actually.. they were good fun!
Something very inexplicable and strange happened. A middle-aged woman who is some sort of an activist in my community, and nearly everyone here has pretty much met her. I've seen her on Youtube as she's hosted stuff. So, in the last few few days my interests grew stronger and I thought of going to see her work. But alas, tonight, all of a sudden, she passes away. I mean, what were the odds? I guess coincidences can be extremely tragic. Besides that, I am just extremely gutted and speechless right now.

Agreed. Those were awesome threads. We should really bring them back, it's funny to roast people on here.

Hmmmm perhaps. I lived in North GA north of Atlanta from 2006-2008 and the climate there is a few degrees warmer than Lexington, and I found the climate too warm there for my tastes. I think I'd likely find Lexington to have too many mild winter days. But the cold snaps you guys get are really awesome. I love that you guys can reach below -10 F on a really good cold snap.

Keep in mind though that our warmest January ever was close to the average for Atlanta. I know the northern suburbs are a bit colder, but there might be a bigger difference than you think. Certainly in terms of snowfall, as there's never been a year with less than 2 inches of snow here.
