At a demographic tipping point, some of them eventually get a job Leeds/Bradford is one big urban area so commuting isn't hard.

I don't think many people people are commuting from Bradford to Leeds just to work in supermarkets, or vice versa.

I don't think a woman wearing a hijab working in the private sector is quite as remarkable as you think it is.

Macron seems to be a bit of a political genius. A year after founding his party they've practically taken over French politics.

That being said, he's turned France into a one-party state. This can't be healthy for French democracy.

With FPTP and the other two parties in disarray it wasn't even hard. As it is it seems like standard practice to vote for the president's party in those elections as well. All in all a weird system when the president is elected first.

Having said that there's no core ideology or direction in that party and he's just a banker puppet to I predict his and his party's demise rather quickly. Republicans vs Front National in the second round in 2022 after droves of jihadi attacks and PC platitudes until then.

The French elite can't dig out another cultural marxist wage-dumper to con people with again after these next five years when he'll flop miserably with everything. I predict a social conservative in the realm of Chirac to win next time.

It is weird, he's just taken in people from both sides of the political spectrum and it doesn't seem to he coherent. Although he seems to be doing one thing right, easing France's ridiculous worker protections that constantly keep unemployment in double figures.

How much he'll actually do remains to be seen.
