Just had this

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Exploding_head_syndrome

I heard a loud banging, noise.. Sounded like someone broke into my apartment, I ran around like a wreck checking everything only to discover it was a sound in a dream.

I've only had this a few other times. It's terrifying every time..

Wonder what we have going on at the moment. I could sign something.

Funny that you need 100k signatories in the UK, while 50k in much smaller Finland.

The only petition here that has actually changed a law (so far) is the same-sex marriage one.

Ah, the parliament in the UK considers a debate if 100k names are collected. Here the parliament is legally bound to debate it. Then it's understandable why 50k is required. And that is good, as trolling on teh internets is a national pastime.

Yeah, they are under no obligation to do anything about any petition. They debated the second EU referendum petition, and I guess they will debate most petitions that reach the threshold.

Not sure if any petition here actually changed or influenced law. I think there was a petition recently to abolish letting fees and the government recently announced they were abolishing them, so maybe that.

A bus driver in Helsinki or Turku will hardly make half of the salary as in NYC.
NYC and its suburbs have high public worker salaries and is heavily unionized.

actually, most of Boston's trams run in the roadway median not shared with cars. They just don't get signal priority at lights most of the time.

here's the only branch that doesn't, but it's only shared with a road lane near the end. Used to extend further, but it was removed in the mid 80s as it was slower than a bus . They could have taken a road lane instead. There's a subway not too far away at least
