Very few people in the UK use cash. In fact, I only use it for the bus.

Most people use debit cards for everything here, including transport.

I believe Sweden is the most cashless country. They overwhelmingly use plastic.

I wouldn't like it. When money is tangible, you tend to avoid spending as much. Psychological research supports this conclusion.

I don't spend as much, having a cash card means that I can monitor my spending/budget more.

I wished I had used the card yesterday in the tube because I was charged £5 for using cash.

You should have used your debit card. If you'd taken a bus, the only options would be oyster or debit card, as cash is not accepted.

Fair enough.

I would never use a credit card at a mom & pop store, or similar retailers, unless I had no other option. I wouldn't want them to have to pay the transaction fee. So cash is my only option there--physical cash. No debit card. I typically use my credit card for larger purchases.

The circulation of physical cash is kind of fascinating to me, honestly. That's another reason I like to use cash more often than the typical person in my age group.

If you can get rewards for credit, why not use it over debit ??

I still use cash for under $20 purchases though.

I'm more reckless with cash actually. It's easy to forget about cash, but I hate looking at my Account Transactions and seeing all the "$4.95 - Pumpkin Spice Latte", it makes me feel so guilty. I haven't eaten out in weeks, feels good
