Yeah, Cornwall is very beautiful. Probably explains why so many Londoners have holiday homes there. Despite Cornwall being the poorest county in England, it has some of the most expensive house prices. Pretty crazy stuff.

Dorset is better than Devon or Cornwall. If I was going to have a holiday home in the UK it would be on the Sussex coast, not Cornwall.

My 5 favourite counties (excluding London, which is obviously 1st).

1. Surrey
2. West Sussex
3. Hampshire
4. Dorset
5. Berkshire

Sure, but the level of 'ruralness' of the neighbouring muncipalities varies.

In the top 10 Pirkkala, Lempäälä (neighbours of Tampere), Lieto (neighbour of Turku), Ylivieska (neighbour of Oulu) are examples of this.

Poorest county in England? Well that does surprise me, I always assumed it was middle class for some reason.

It's funny, I was discussing south west England on a thread earlier today. Some very nice pictures emerged. There's crazy palm growing potential down there for the latitude.

Some people don't want to leave, just like a lot of people in the poorest parts of northern England don't want to leave. It's where they grew up, it's where their family live, etc etc. Nice scenery won't hurt either.

Though if you're from somewhere like Cornwall and leave for university, there's a good chance you won't return.
