The sole habitable zone in North America is the narrow strip by the Californian coast and the interior of Oregon in the Portland/Eugene/Salem valley + the Seattle area and Nanaimo. The rest is sheer misery.
Granted, the Mexican highland might be quite pleasant, but not sure how the sun angle and the humidity affects that.
