hello!

I am new here

I come from Milan, Italy and i was thinking about moving to Brisbane, Australia.

I checked the average temperatures in Brisbane in summer and it looks like being very hot and humid. However, most of the apartments i found over there look like not having air conditioning installed.

My city gets pretty hot in summer and the heat is difficulty bearable without air conditioning (very hot, humid and no wind).

How hot does it effectively get in Brisbane in summer? Is it possible to survive without air conditioning?

Thanks!

I don't live in Brisbane but I know some people who have lived or stayed there. It's probably bearable, think of it like July and August in Milan but a bit more humid and from October-April. There's lots of rain and it's humid but usually pleasant before 10am and after sunset. Only in the heatwaves when it's humid and 35-39˚C, when it's truly hot and humid.

I used to live in Brisbane in the CBD, and never thought air con was needed outside of a few days per summer. It rarely gets very hot, it's just consistently 29-31c.

What do you have against air conditioning? Get one just in case you need it. I assume that 29-31C is humid right? I would definitely run my AC. I don't mind it warm outside, but I don't like a stuffy house.

It wasn't needed when could create a cool breeze by opening 2 windows. There was only 1 day where it was really needed, when the temp was 37c with a 26c low.

Central Queensland (Emerald) is a completely different animal. AC was definitely needed there in summer.

Yeah, basically if you're near the airport or the coast it's cooler with sea breezes while inland it's less humid but +2-4˚C hotter.

I could open up all the windows in my house and there is no cool breezes here even with only 30C. Air is stagnant and humid in the summer. Even now I have my AC running. Granted it wont kick on today because the high will only reach 25-26C, and the windows are open. It's definitely cool in the house this morning as temps cool off much more this time of year.

The highs look similar to here but the lows are higher (well this year I believe we had something similar, still need to make the charts)

I believe I would have some difficulty to sleep. That's a lot of rain too.

Here's observations from Brisbane In February this year which was the hottest month of the summer, does it look bearable to you without AC? Remember that it's quite warm for a good long while, unlike in Milan. The mean max was 29.2C in November and 27C in May.

I personally would run AC ....it takes out the humidity, which I like.

Running large ceiling fans could work too.

I stayed once, for a week, at a cheap old motel in south Florida that only had ceiling fans
and it was surprisingly ok, it was in October with average highs 29-30C, lows 18-19C
