Late autumn- lower sun angle but warmer minimums and maximums, more rain and higher humidity. Early spring can also be winter for an extra 30 days e.g. this month, quite unpredictable while late autumn is very consistent, 18-23˚C for 30-40 days.
March may have higher avg highs than November here, but the means are about 1 C higher in November since frosts are rather infrequent, whereas March tends to have -3 on average as low temps. March is similar to a 12/12 winter day, with half the day being spring (during daytime) and the rest winter.
Late autumn (late november) is usually colder than early-mid March. The lows are pretty much the same here, but the highs are usually higher in March due to the stronger sun and overall less cloudy weather. That said it can snow in March while any warmth is almost impossible in late november (nothing above 15c)
I was going to say late Autumn seems cooler than early Spring but the actual averages contradict that. The average high in November is a half a degree (F) warmer than March but the average low is about 3 degrees (F) warmer in November than March. We also average almost 2 full inches more of snow in March than in November.
Late autumn might seem cooler because November is after October, which is a much milder month than February. You're more used to warm/mild weather in November than in March.
Also, November has a lower sun than March, and much cloudier in a lot of places. Lack of sun will help feel colder as well.
