Seems like we're gonna be in a heatwave this week. Ouch.

And Melbourne seems surprisingly humid and consistently hot.
We finally get hot weather and it's humid with 20°C? we can't win but it's better than mild weather I guess.

Also we had a loud ass thunderstorm this morning, the thunder shook the windows.

You're getting a couple of 23C lows this week. That's impressive for Melbourne. Even Sydney's west barely manages to get such high lows (although we're getting a few 23s and 24s on the brunt of the heatwave).

Very hot for Christmas here. 37C yesterday and currently 40C as of 2:15pm, with no wind. Last night it was around 26C at midnight, by dawn it was 17C.

In an amusing irony, Brisbane has been the coolest mainland capital today.

@ 2:45pm AEDT

Adelaide: 39.0C
Brisbane: 23.2C
Canberra: 29.4C
Darwin: 32.7C
Hobart: 20.1C
Melbourne: 35.1C
Perth: 29.1C
Sydney: 26.5C

Interesting find I just came across - overnight low at Pallamana (small town SE of Adelaide) was 9.0C, high so far over 40C! http://www.bom.gov.au/sa/observations/saall.shtml#ML

Hot one last night. Temp was still over 31C when I went to bed at 3am. Spiders are booming, there is one huge Golden Orb Weaver in my front yard amongst several other examples in the area, there's large Wolf spiders and these long-bodied orb weaver things which are exploding in population.

Overnight low was 25.7C, but down the road in Mildura they had 28.9C. Muggy and overcast with some rain today. BOM forecasted 36C, but so far the high is around 28C! Does their budget not include windows?

I agree! It's absolutely beautiful.
I was just there recently and it's an amazing area in the sun as well. I would've loved to see those kinds of downpours while there though.

The desert flowers will be blooming for a while after this I'd imagine.

Uluru is currently sitting 469mm for the year plus the 63.8mm that's fallen since 9am (83.8mm yesterday).

Total for 2016 = 532.8mm
Average = 299.4mm
Median = 220mm
